So i haven't mentioned yet but my day job (at night ;-) is at a popular wine bar in Philadelphia. One of the perks is that I have to attend a training once a week to try all the new fermentations we are to get soon! I know, I know, poor me! But it allows me to dedicate time specifically to you while I wait to work later! From time to time, I am sure I will bring up some fantastic cheese or otherwise that I feel warrants a "Hooray!"
Today, possibly awaiting thunderstorms, I feel particularly cozy in my little coffee shop, chatting away to you.
In my sewing current events, I am stitching up a storm filled with rainbow unicorns, sugary pleats, and cotton candy ruffles! My little chibi turns 3 in September and I am creating my newest masterpiece for the extravaganza!
I am only half way done, but here's what's up so far:
|
This is the apron layer. The front. Don't mind the creepy doll in the corner! |
|
The top is pleated. I used a super modified version of the popular feliz dress, however I only used the top layer. |
|
I'm using that awesome hanger I made with Pascale's awesome tutorial. Plus, my first successful attempt at a narrow rolled hem effect for the sleeves. And my heart really goes out to Sally, from aLittleScrappy on Etsy for these amazing hand stamped glitter clothespins. Possibly my favorite Etsy purchase ever! She included this sweet little tag as well with my shop initials on it! I'm in love with them! |
|
The back of the apron, super ruffley and little side pockets! |
|
Instead of sewing in the sash ties (like in the feliz pattern), I needed to create a way to display the ties and have them stay in place as well, so I created sash loops (two on each side) to hold the ties up. |
My little lady is a horse FANATIC! She can't really say "horse" but boy, oh boy, does she collect them! All over the house and everywhere we go, she requires a horse of some kind! Needless to say, for a girl that would rather wear nothing over a sweet little dress, she is crazy over this unicorn fabric, always "ooohhhing" and "ahhhhing" at it and trying to tug it while I'm sewing!
Wait until I finish the under dress outfit! I'm sewing
a stripey tunic for underneath complete with ruffle shorts a stripey dress with little leggings so that when we get the the playing portion of her party, she can take off the apron and have a little more freedom of movement to hang from the rafters! I'll post that bit when as I finish it!
Happy Thursday!
